The bounty system during Pre-T2A worked slightly differently than the reputation version. In this system, players could receive a bounty when they had 10 or more kill counts. When this happened, the player would fall instantly to Dread Lord status, their bank would be cleared, and they would receive a 10% stat loss when they died. However, there was no way to determine the exact number of kill counts on a character, but they decayed at a rate of 12 hours.

Accumulating Kills

Players would only receive a kill count under the following conditions:

  • The player killed had higher than neutral notoriety.
  • The player killed had higher notoriety than the killer.
  • The player killed had fewer kills than the killer.
  • The player killed was not a criminal.

The old bounty system had these specific requirements, which is why many players didn't have their kill counts increase. It's likely that they never experienced stat loss on OSI during Pre-T2A, as the myth goes.
